How does one become “A Complete Man/ Woman?”
You probably know the answer but let me share my analogy of being a public speaker
Last month I delivered a 10 min talk to a large audience (in person) which was a completely new experience for me.
I remembered my time when I started as a public speaker and a trainer 4 years back with the full day trainings. In cricket parlance this is more like a one day match!
There’s enough time to acclimatise, get familiar with the participants and engage in meaningful conversations.
Three years back I got my first opportunity to deliver a keynote talk (duration – 45 mins. OMG, welcome to the T20 format of IPL cricket.
One had to get into momentum in the first few minutes and simply let your words do the talking.
The session went off well and I got comfortable with this format.
Over the last few months, I wanted to challenge myself again.
I started recording Reels and Shorts. Its like playing the super over – the entire story needs to be completed in under 60 secs!
I continue to record and post @10 Reels and Shorts/ week.
Its pure adrenaline!
It’s helped me build a razor sharp focus – every second counts.
And now finally the 10 min talk. This was something like a T-5 match (5 overs a side, which may at some time become a reality).
For someone like me who had got used to the Shorts/ Reels, 10 mins appeared to be good enough!
I felt like a complete cricketer with an ability to play one day, T-20, super over and the futuristic T-5 matches as well (there’s nothing equivalent of a test match in training)!
I felt like a “complete” public speaker, being able to speak across all formats.
Life is all about learning and adapting to the changing environment – this is what makes you A Complete Man/Woman!
I would love to hear your experience of responding to change over the last few years.
