What do you do when you listen to a former Chief Economic Advisor?

Stay silent, stay focussed and understand.

This is what I did when I was a part of the audience, listening to Prof. Krishnamurthy V Subramanian recently.

He spoke with conviction about India’s rise as an economic superpower in the next 2 decades.

He shared how the 3 Asian superpowers (Japan, South Korea and China) moved from a developing to a developed nation.

India is poised to follow the same trajectory.

From a GDP of $3.5 trillion in 2023, we are on track to be a $55 trillion economy by 2047.

India @100 looks like a very promising story.

I will not get into the details lest this letter becomes an economics article.

To sum it up, we are at the cusp of a golden era in Indian history – from an idea to the reality of a Viksit Bharat.

अगर ऐसा हो गया तो भारत की तस्वीर बदल जाएगी

For once, we are not aiming for something unique – there’s a precedent and enough countries have traversed this growth path – Japan to South Korea to China!

It’s akin to sending the Chandrayaan to the moon where rovers and humans have successfully landed before!

Mr K. Subramanian spoke about the bold, yet logical assumptions and shared data points on the same!

There wasn’t an iota of doubt in his mind.

It would happen – with or without you and me.

But I am sure we would want to be a part of this dream run.
