Building Long Term Relationships

Would you be delighted if someone sent you a Diwali gift worth Rs 25?

I received an email a few days back stating that a courier was on its way from Amul.

I was not sure what the parcel contained.

I have been an Amul whey protein customer for many months. I logged into my Amul account and realized I had not placed any order.

Was this spam?
Could there be a problem with Amul’s IT systems?

Well, the courier was finally received.

I was in for a delight as I saw the 5 small packs of Panchamrit.

My teenage daughter standing beside me couldn’t understand the reason for my delight on seeing a Rs 25 freebie.

I told her it was not about the cost but the intent behind the gift.

This was a very thoughtful gesture at the time of Diwali.

You have been a customer to tens of companies with purchases amounting to lakhs over your lifetime.

Have you ever received a physical gift from any of the companies during Diwali?

Here I was standing with the small token from Amul.
I felt touched.

A 78 year old brand taught me that business is not just about chasing the next customer but also about building long term relationships and bonds.

The sales will happen.
