Embrace the Challenge
Embrace the Challenge
I have never had to cook my entire life.
My mother was a housewife and everything was taken care of.I remember my younger sister going through the cooking lessons while she was in college. I had an option to skip the same.
I believe these were some of the privileges which many males in my generation enjoyed.
The tiffin service came to my rescue when I was in a job and still a bachelor.
I got married 20 years back!
A few weeks ago my wife was away to her parent’s house (we’ve not had a cook for the last 2 months)
She stuffed up the freezer for 2 – 3 days and gave me a few tips to make rice, one subzi and dal
उसको यकीन था मैं नहीं बनाऊंगा पर धर्मपत्नी ने अपना फ़र्ज़ निभाया
The cooked food got consumed sooner than expected. There was a choice of ordering from the “gys” and the “tos” but I decided against it
I had to stand up to the challenge.
You wouldn’t believe what happened.
I successfully made rice, arhar dal and paneer bhurji. I repeated the same menu one more time and it was much much better.
I felt proud on what I had achieved by exceeding my own expectations!
It was all about taking the initiative.
This letter is not about asking you to cook this summer.
I simply want to ask one question.
Have you been shying away from something all these years?
It could be something like:
-going on a solo trip
-recording a Youtube video
-writing a blog
It’s about taking initiative.
Give it a shot.
You can do it!
