Embracing the Darkness
Embracing the Darkness
Have you seen anyone attempting a Guinness world record?
It’s about exceeding expectations and attempting the impossible.
I faced a similar situation a few weeks back.
I venture into the Aravallis for trekking with a passionate group each Sunday.
This was a slightly different trek and we started earlier than usual for this time of the year.
We started walking at 5.45 am (with about an hour to sunrise).
The first few hundred meters was rocky terrain. Many people in the group switched on their flash lights.
The walk leader suggested people to trust their eyes and switch off the flash light and walk.
A few tried but turned on the light in a couple of seconds to avoid any unforeseen injury.
I was walking towards the very end with two more people. We decided to abide by the walk leaders’ suggestion in terms of trusting our eyes and abilities.
It was really difficult for the first few seconds with the mind forcing us to switch on the light.
We persisted and focussed for about a minute.
It was unbelievable – we could actually spot the rocks pretty clearly. We had to be more cautious and careful, but it was doable.
The rocky terrain got over in a few minutes and it was fairly plain after that.
We made it through the darkness , which slowly made its way for the morning rays as we meandered through the greens.
I was wondering what a few of us had achieved – something which appeared seemingly impossible!
Do the challenges (darkness) have a role in our life?
Yes!
They help unearth our true potential 🙂
