Can buying a T-shirt be a dream and a goal for someone earning an 8 figure income in India?
I have known Sanjeev for nearly 2 decades now.
A shy person with roots in Himachal, he came to Chandigarh and started his career in sales.
He worked really hard over the next decade but failed to make it to a respectable position and salary in the corporate world.
He decided to start on his own 10 years back and slowly but steadily started making a mark for himself.
Fast forward 10 years.
He’s come a long way and is now living a dream life.
He showed me 2 T-shirts which he recently purchased at Dubai. One was a plain navy blue Armani and the other had Balmain written in bold on a simple black T-shirt.
The regular retail price is 2000 Dirhams each (Rs 45,000!) but he was lucky to get these in a discount sale.
I was still in awe when he said – “Vikas, I have come a long way but my conscious still doesn’t allow me to splurge on these fancy labels.”
“For now, I didn’t buy the T-shirts, I simply fulfilled my dream, my goal.”
I could literally feel the goosebumps as a strange silence engulfed the room..
I saw the innocent smile on his face as he started packing both the T-shirts neatly.
We all have dreams and goals, a few which we’ve harboured somewhere deep within.
How about you?
What’s on your list?
