I felt a quiet discontent as I stepped into my society’s gym. There was a notice which stated that the gym would be closed for renovation for 45 days.
Forty-five days is a long time for someone who is a regular at the gym!
What I saw next completely perplexed me…
I saw two of my friends going through their routines more diligently. They seemed to be more serious than what they normally were on any given day.
They were ready to sweat it out more that day!
I saw the same phenomenon on Wednesday – they were far too committed to their routine than what I had seen off late.
I somehow understood the reason – this is something to do with scarcity. I wouldn’t exactly call it scarcity but about knowing that the time is limited.
What would you do if you realised your project deadline has been preponed and you only have time till tonight?
You will give it everything you have..
We tend to value things more when they are scarce and we tend to value time more when it is limited.
I am sure you would have heard the song from the movie Kal ho na ho
हर घड़ी बदल रही है रूप ज़िंदगी
छाँव है कभी, कभी है धूप ज़िंदगी
हर पल यहाँ जी भर जियो
जो है समा कल हो ना हो
Our life would be so different if we make every moment count – if we undergo each task with the focus and rigour it deserves.
It’s about living your life as if there’s no tomorrow!
