More than enough

More than enough

I felt a wave of gratitude – thanks to two different people this week.

We all know we need to be grateful for the things we have. In our daily routine, we tend to forget the same unless we come across someone like Sudhir and Amit.

I happened to watch a movie titled Nazar Andaz over the weekend. It is the story of a rich man Sudhir (played by Kumud Mishra) who’s blind since birth.

It’s a treat to watch him live his life and the way he navigates through the daily hurdles effortlessly.

The movie has its own twists and turns with Sudhir going on a long cherished road trip with his two caretakers.

This was the story of a reel person but I met another real person named Amit who had just graduated from college.

He was a perfectly normal student till about Class 10. He was aware of a genetic disorder which may ultimately affect his eyesight and the first shock came a year later when his younger sister reported a partial loss in eye sight.

By the time Amit completed class 12, his younger sister was completely blind.

In the next 3 years, he too reported a considerable loss in eye sight. Apparently there’s no cure for this disorder.

Amit is currently preparing for higher studies.

I asked him how he kept himself motivated despite the big challenge.

He said that he feels lucky to have a set of loving parents who have provided him good education, a younger sister who’s always encouraging him and a society which no longer looks down upon people with disabilities.

He smiled – he’s mastered the art of living every moment!

आने वाला पल जाने वाला है

हो सके तो इस में

ज़िंदगी बिता दो

पल जो ये जाने वाला है

Deep gratitude for whatever I have…
