Stay True to Yourself
Stay True to Yourself
You may have heard a statement – Change is the only constant!
This is not true.
I believe people inherently stay the same – their nature, conduct and inner self.
I met Mr Suneel Saxena while I was posted at RCom Chandigarh in the mid 2000s. A couple of levels senior to me, he overlooked the operations of a different city.
He was the MSD of our circle office – cool, calm and composed with an occasional soft smile.
He recently shifted to Chandigarh after a long and successful corporate stint.
I met him a few days back and he looked absolutely the same, very active and vibrant for a person on the verge of being called a senior citizen.
I would like to share a few of his aspects which made him a successful leader.
He was known for these traits 20 years back and still lives by them.
Humility – I was in the city for some work and he came all the way to the railway station to meet me.
He was the same 20 years back, never a boss and always ready to go the extra mile.
Active listener – he listened with rapt attention as I shared my business journey over the last 5 years.
He was all ears, wanting to absorb everything that came his way (he was looking forward to being an entrepreneur now!).
He was the same 20 years back, always a keen observer and listener as he sat through the corporate meetings.
Lifelong learner – he has two grown up kids, both pretty successful in their own fields.
He shared some of his interactions with his young adults which helped him better manage the millennials in his office.
He was the same 20 years back, always hungry to learn.
Yes, people inherently remain the same – their nature, conduct and inner self.
By the way, which 3 traits would people swear by when they talk about you?
