The Language of Connection
The Language of Connection
If you need to impact the masses, you need to speak their language.
These were the words of Mr Nidheesh Tyagi
I met him in 2019 when he was working with Network 18. My engineering colleague Anushrav Gulati had introduced me to him.
I had just started my entrepreneurial journey and had shot a couple of sample videos.
I was primarily looking to speak to the corporate employees and thus all videos were in English.
He saw one of my videos.
“Vikas, to reach a wider audience you need to speak the language of the masses. Why don’t you record a few videos in Hindi?”
It didn’t strike a chord (after all English is supposed to be the corporate language)!!
Last year I decided to restart posting videos on Youtube.
I wanted to reach a wider audience and was reminded of his words.
I recorded in Hindi.
I was at ease.
Infact, the expressions in my mother tongue were much better.
Deep within, I thanked Tyagi ji.
Recently, I came to know that he was hosting an event in Central Delhi. I knew I had to thank him in person.
It had been 5 years..
I walked upto him and introduced myself.
He smiled.
“Vikas, I have been following you on Facebook. You speak really well and the connect is even better in Hindi”
Wow!! His statement made my day 🙂
I told him that he was the inspiration behind this change and thanked him from the bottom of my heart.
The Youtube Shorts are beginning to reach a wider audience – it feels so good!
I am sure you too have a Tyagi ji who through his guidance made a difference to your life.
If yes, why not take a moment to thank that person right now?
