It was really touching – seeing his parents come up to the well decorated stage.
It was heartening to see them immersed in the present moment.
My engineering friend Amal Prasad had invited me for his parents 50th marriage anniversary celebrations.
It was a big gathering and many of Amal’s friends and relatives had turned up for the event. It was mostly the youngsters (like my son who’d accompanied me) and the middle age people like me.
I saw only a few senior citizens in the party.
Wait, but how about his parents’ friends and colleagues?
I believe many would have left for their heavenly abode and quite a few may not be keeping good health to join in the celebrations.
As I was thinking, I saw Amal’s father not being able to walk properly and someone holding his hand as he walked each step.
What would it be like to be celebrating at that age?
I began to visualise how things would be when Nitika and me celebrate our 50th anniversary.
It seemed too far fetched 🙂
I then shifted my focus to the 25th anniversary celebration. Though a few years away, but this looked within control. In fact I do have grandiose plans for our 25th anniversary, which Nitika’s aware of!
Suddenly, I realised the corporate motivational speaker in me talking to myself – Life is all about the present moment. How about this year?
We would be completing 20 years of married life this year (2024). As I walked out of the party, I knew this October too was going to be special.
Being together is not about waiting for the landmark years.
It’s about celebrating togetherness every single year!
It’s all about the NOW 🙂
