Unfulfilled dream
Unfulfilled Dream
Do you know the difference between dhakdhak – dhakdhak and dhak-dhak-dhak-dhak?
You must be really thinking I’ve gone nuts!
Well, the first sound connotes the heartbeat while the second is pretty familiar to the biking enthusiasts.
It’s the sound of the Bullet (some people may know it as a Royal Enfield bike).
Recently, I had a chance to ride one, courtesy my friend Manmohan. He was going outstation for a few days and graciously offered his bike.
My wife Nitika too was excited about the same and accompanied me for our first Bullet ride.
She wasn’t too sure about my riding skills as I had never driven a 2 wheeler post marriage.
The smooth take off in the first gear and the elegant transition to the second gear helped build her confidence as we rode towards the golf course road!
The Bullet was now gliding effortlessly and I travelled back in time to my teenage and young adulthood days.
I always rode a scooter – my father had a Bajaj Chetak and I bought an LML Vespa post my graduation.
Why a scooter?
We couldn’t afford a car and
उस ज़माने में सब्ज़ी लेने बाजार जाना पड़ता था
डिग्गी स्कूटर में ही होती थी 🙂
Well, I realised Nitika was tapping me gently on my shoulder.
It was her turn now and I took the back seat.
She was super excited as she rode a few kms.
She never rode a bike in her formative years for it was considered to be a man’s vehicle in those days.
We had a great time.
We enjoyed the ride.
We enjoyed the soft morning breeze.
We enjoyed the pulsating sound of dhak-dhak-dhak-dhak while glancing through the iconic buildings on the Golf course road.
We had a chance to live and ride our dream!
How about you?
Do you have any unfulfilled dream?
